RIP

It is with a heavy heart that I that I deliver the news that my beloved cat Tabby passed this afternoon.

Being that she was adopted, I'm not certain of her age but estimate her to have lived 14-16 years.

Tabby was a small, unique, intelligent cat. She was very affectionate, but she was spunky and could also be a real bitch sometimes.

She preferred the company of my dog Klara to that of the home's other cats.

For her,

Chocolate Jesus?

Yesterday, whilst schlepping through the aisles of a large national retail store, I happened across something which struck me as a bit peculiar. It was a chocolate Easter candy in the shape of the cross. This caused me to wonder, which was more blasphemous, that whole Easter Bunny thing or the consumption of such a symbolic confection?
What's up with Easter and rabbits anyway?

Happy Easter! Jesus died for your sins.

You may have noticed ...

...Blogging has been light, of late, as I've been out of the office.
I've been off to the races, and also logging in some hours at my other office-the Tin & Lint Co. in Saratoga Springs.

This local "gin mill" is reminiscent of The Park City's Golden Star--and I mean that in a good way. The bar is also the site where singer Don McClean wrote that awful song.

That is why I've not been blogging so much.

But fear not! the folks o'er at Conservative Punk have been on the case with coverage of Segway riding chimps and (more importantly) Presidential control of OUR internet.

Drinking w/ Bob:New York Post Cartoon

From Bob's blog:

"I'm sick of hearing about the New York Post. Last week they published a freaking cartoon with two cops shooting a freaking monkey. Underneath the cartoon the caption read... Now you're going to have to find someone else to write your next stimulus bill.

Are you freaking kidding me?!

Are you telling me know one at the New York Post saw this and said, maybe they're going to think we're talking about Barack Obama? Of course they did! They didn't care! They wanted a controversy. And they got it. Al Sharpton and the NAACP were stupid enough to fall right into their trap.

Al Sharpton started screaming about it. What did he accomplish? I'll tell you what he accomplished. Before he started screaming, maybe ten or twenty thousand people saw this freaking cartoon. After he started screaming... MILLIONS of people, all over the freaking world, saw this freaking cartoon.

You think people are gonna stop buying the Post now, because Al Sharpton's crying? No! I guarantee you, more people are going to buy the Post. I'm buying two freaking copies a day! This was the greatest freaking marketing scheme since Paris Hilton put Rick Solomon's balls in her mouth on a freaking sex tape.

Are you freaking kidding me?!!

Al, did you freaking notice, we have a President who's half black? The Governor of freaking New York is half black and blind. The freaking Governor of Louisiana is from India and the Governor of Alaska is a woman. And you're going to play the freaking race card? That ship has sailed my friend!

Nobody takes Al Sharpton seriously. The guys a clown! Do you realize, we had the first African American run for President this year. Was Al Sharpton anywhere to be seen? Was he campaigning with Barack Obama? Was he up on the freaking pulpit with Barack Obama? No! This guy was a freaking ghost. They told him to disappear. I think they locked him in a freaking closet. The only mistake they made is after the election, they let him out!

If anybody knows Al Sharpton, give him a message from me. This is America Al! The last I checked, we have freedom of speech. We have freedom of the press.
If the New York Post wants to publish a cartoon with two cops shooting a freaking monkey and compare it to Barack Obama. They have a right to do it.

If you don't want to see it. Don't buy the Post, YOU FREAK!!!"

(click Bob's photo for the video. You know the drill.)

If you've missed it, here's the cartoon:

K-9

Today, January 31st, is my dog's birthday. Klara is 9 years old.

So raise a glass everyone.
Although she's of German descent, she seems partial to Hennepin.

Steamboat Willie

It was 80 years ago, today, that the animated short Steamboat Willie was released by Walt Disney Productions.Contrary to what many hold as truth, Steamboat Willie was not the first Mickey Mouse cartoon made, nor the first cartoon to use sound, but it was the one that made Mickey Mouse famous, and the first sound cartoon to attract widespread notice and popularity.

Believe it or not, there is a Mickey Mouse connection to radical Islam.

"People take pictures of the Summer, Just in case someone thought they had missed it

... and to prove that it really existed."
~Ray Davies

Here's my first photos of the new home. That's my window up there.

There's the yard with my dog and garage.
perhaps someday, I 'll have something to put in the garage, aside from my bicycle.

Here's my cat, Tabby, my dog Klara, and some views of my bohemian loft.
On a good day, I live in a "bohemian loft".
On a bad day, I'm merely " a male, gentile Anne Frank hiding-out in an attic".

It's a cozy little space, and it serves as the nerve center for my blogging duties.

"In this world I lock out all my worries and my fears...
... Do my dreaming and my scheming
Lie awake and pray
Do my crying and my sighing
Laugh at yesterday" ~Brian Wilson

I humbly admit that these photographs are sub-par to many of those posted recently in the blogs of my comrades, but this is only my first outing, and was accomplished for less than $10 (cost includes disposable camera, developing and photo cd).

There are still some more photos to come, but I'll end this particular post with a shot from my basement bar!
There's plenty of room,so come up and see me sometime.

Fathers' Day

"A Father's Day Poem
From the Dog: "

You feed me when I'm hungry,
You keep water in my dish,
You let me sleep on anything,
Or in any place I wish.

You sometimes let me lick your hands,
Or even lick your face,
Despite the fact I've licked myself,
In every private place.

You taught me how to come when called,
You taught me how to sit,
You always let me go outside,
So I can take a sh... Stroll.

You'll always have my loyalty,
Up to the bitter end,
'Cause after all, it's plain to see...
You are a dog's best friend!

- not sure who wrote this, I got it on a card from Klara.
