Jerome John Garcia was born on this date in 1942.
Better known as Jerry, Garcia was the iconic leader, guitarist and founding member of The Grateful Dead.
Jerry Garcia, a skilled musician, displayed his talents in many side projects in addition to playing with the Grateful Dead.The most notable of these being the Jerry Garcia Band.
Jerry was also a talented artist with a line of designer neckties, and had an ice cream (and frozen yogurt) named after him.


Jerry Garcia died from heart failure on August 9th 1995. He had finally succumbed to the rigors of his hard lifestyle.
He's Gone, but he is certainly not forgotten.
